A micrometer, sometimes known as a micrometer screw gauge, is a device incorporating a calibrated screw widely used for accurate measurement of components in mechanical engineering and machining as well as most mechanical trades.

0-25mm 0.01mm Outside External Metric Gauge Micrometer Features:

  1. Great for machinists and jewelers for precise measurements.
  2. This gauge ranges from 0.01-25mm and features a lock to give you the most accurate reading.
  3. Measuring faces are manufactured from tungsten carbide steel for maximum durability.
  4. Packaged with plastic hard case for portable carrying.

  1. Model: E3
  2. Material: Tungsten carbide steel
  3. Measuring Range: 0 - 25mm
  4. Accuracy / Graduation: 0.01mm
  5. Case Size: 14*6.5*6cm

  1. Micrometer is a precision measuring tool, please use it gently.
  2. After using in the exposed room please coated with anti-rust oil, and put into the box, placed in a dry and ventilated place.
  3. Do not force to turn the differential tube, so as not to damage the accuracy.
  4. Do not attempt to remove the micrometer parts or it will be damaged and can not be used.
  5. The length of the micrometer test cycle should be determined according to the specific circumstances of use.

Quick Guide:

A quick guide on how to read a micrometer screw gauge. Similar to the way a vernier caliper is read, a micrometer reading contains two parts:

  1. the first part is contributed by the main scale on the sleeve
  2. the second part is contributed by the rotating vernier scale on the thimble

A typical micrometer screw gauge

The above image shows a typical micrometer screw gauge and how to read it. Steps:

  1. To obtain the first part of the measurement: Look at the image above, you will see a number 5 to the immediate left of the thimble. This means 5.0 mm. Notice that there is an extra line below the datum line, this represents an additional 0.5 mm. So the first part of the measurement is 5.0+0.5=5.55.0+0.5=5.5 mm.
  2. To obtain the second part of the measurement: Look at the image above, the number 28 on the rotating vernier scale coincides with the datum line on the sleeve. Hence, 0.28 mm is the second part of the measurement.

You just have to add the first part and second part of the measurement to obtain the micrometer reading: 5.5+0.28=5.785.5+0.28=5.78 mm.To ensure that you understand the steps above, here’s one more example:

  1. First part of the measurement: 2.5 mm
  2. Second part of the measurement: 0.38 mm
  3. Final measurement: 2.88 mm

Now, we shall try with zero error. If you are not familiar on how to handle zero error for micrometer screw gauge

I suggest that you read up on Measurement of Length.

The reading on the bottom is the measurement obtained and the reading at the top is the zero error.

Find the actual measurement. (Meaning: get rid of the zero error in the measurement or take into account the zero error)

  1. Measurement with zero error: 1.76 mm
  2. Zero error: + 0.01 mm (positive because the zero marking on the thimble is below the datum line)
  3. Measurement without zero error: 1.76–(+0.01)=1.751.76–(+0.01)=1.75 mm

Package Include:

  • 1 X Micrometer
